KATHMANDU: A scooter rider succumbed to injuries when his scooter collided with a pick-up van at Tilingatar in Kathmandu today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Shrestha (17) of Ramechhap district who had currently been staying at Basundhara in Kathmandu, according to Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD).

MTPD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Basanta Panta shared that Shrestha, who was riding towards Gongabu from Basundhara on the scooter (Ba 97 Pa 7836), hit the pick-up van (Ba 14 Cha 6848) resulting in a serious injury.

Shrestha was rushed to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital at Maharajgunj where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, informed SSP Panta, adding that the pillion rider, Shrestha's mother was also hurt in the incident.

Police have arrested the pick-up van's driver and impounded the vehicle for investigation.
