Kathmandu, January 3:

The CPN-Maoist today said that the person, who was killed at Bishalnagar last night by security personnel while he was trying to extort money from a doctor, was not a Maoist cadre. “The person, who was reported to be a Maoist and was said to have been killed while extorting money from a doctor is not associated with our party,” Kathmandu district in-charge of the CPN-Maoist, Aditya, said.

Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) personnel had shot dead the person, who had reportedly come to the house of the doctor for extortion. “When the Maoist entered the house, plainclothes security men gave him a bag. He brandished a pistol when they tried to take him under control. Another army personnel shot him dead as he tried to stab the security personnel,” security official said. Police officers said they couldn’t identify the deceased. The police said the body would be cremated tomorrow.
