Shun partisan interests, PM tells envoys

Kathmandu, February 3:

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said today ambassadors should be inspired by national interests rather than partisan interests.

Koirala said this while issuing directives to Nepali ambassadors, who are leaving to assume their responsibilities, at his residence in Baluwatar.

He urged them to push forward economic diplomacy and extend relations in Nepal’s interest. Ambassadors of Nepal to Saudi Arabia, Australia

and Denmark Hamid Ansari, Yegendra Dhakal and Bijayalal Karna met Koirala.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today extended congratulations and best wishes to Samak Sundara Vej on being elected as the new prime minister of Thailand. In a message, the Prime Minister expressed his best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Thailand during Vej’s tenure. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PM Koirala also expressed the confidence that the friendly relations between the two nations will be further strengthened.

Also this afternoon, vice-president of the World Bank (WB) Praful Patel called on Prime Minister Koirala.

On the occasion, PM Koirala lauded the cooperation provided by the World Bank in Nepal’s peace process and development and expressed confidence that the WB will continue to help Nepal.
