Six CA teams fan out to gather statute opinion

Kathmandu, February 27:

At least six teams of Constituent Assembly members and employees of CA secretariat left for different districts today to collect public opinion on the form and content of the future constitution.

The teams assigned to collect public opinions from the Tarai districts, however, could not leave today due to the ongoing strikes in the Tarai districts, said spokesperson for the CA secretariat Mukunda Sharma.

Rest of the teams will leave for the districts within a couple of days, he added. They will have to return to Kathmandu by March 22 as per the CA schedule. As many as 40 CA teams will fan out across the nation to collect the suggestions. The teams include all CA members except Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the CA. CA members who are in the cabinet have also not been included in the teams.

The secretariat had printed 3.3 million questionnaires for the purpose of collecting public opinions. Out of them, 1.8 million questionnaires have already been dispatched to the districts, Sharma said. The total task of collecting public opinions is estimated to cost about Rs 180 million.
