South Asian women conference concludes

KATHMANDU: A group of women activists from South Asia demanded for adopting programme that would help reduce the impact of natural disasters, including climate change, on poor and vulnerable communities at the grassroots level.

The demand came at a three-day conference on ‘South Asia planning meeting on advancing grassroots women’s leadership in community resilience’ that concluded here yesterday.

The participants stressed on expanding and consolidating the grassroots network in the region to scale up efforts to help reduce disaster risk and effects of climate change on poor communities.

The meeting was attended by 30 participants from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
