KATHMANDU: Food Technology and Quality Control Department on Sunday warned the public not to consume Family, Shakti and Dhara brands of mustard oil found in the market as they were adulterated.

Organising a press meet, director general Uttam Kumar Bhattarai said test of these brands had showed they were sub-standard and were mixed with soya bean oil and inedible materials.

Bhattarai said the department had to issue a warning after it found the quality of edible oil below the standards

set by the Nepal government while testing the samples of one litre and half litre packets.

The department has also directed Aayush Beverage, Ichangu Drinking Water, Food and Beverage Pvt Ltd, Pashupati Spring Water Industry and Balaju Mineral Water to stop production as their brands of mineral water were below the accepted standards and were conducting business in other companies’ name.
