Sri Lankan army chief calls on president, PM

Kathmandu, March 15

Sri Lankan army chief, Lieutenant General AWJC De Silva, held meetings with President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today.

Lt Gen Silva, who is on a six-day visit to Nepal, met Bhandari at Shital Niwas and PM Dahal received Silva at his residence in Baluwatar. “Nepal’s peace process is exemplary to the rest of the world and Nepal has also learned from Sri Lanka,” said the prime minister.

Silva said many of his compatriots wish to visit Nepal as it is the birth place of Lord Buddha.

At the army headquarters, Silva met with Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri for bilateral talks on issues of military cooperation, including exchanges of high-level visits, training and cooperation in UN peace keeping operations.
