Staffers protest as officials arrive to inspect NWSC offices

Kathmandu, April 25:

Staffers of the Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC) protested today when government officials visited the NWSC to check whether or not the NWSC staffers reached the office on time.

The Ministry of Physical Planning and Works had sent its officers to inspect NWSC offices at Maharajgunj, Chhetrapati, Mahankal Chaur and New Baneshwor at 10.15 am, but members

of trade unions prevented the government officials from checking the attendance register.

“As the ministry has decided to monitor the NWSC to make its functioning effective, we sent some officers to the NWSC branches, but the trade unions prevented the officials from doing their work,” said Ishwari Acharya, spokesperson for the ministry.

However, trade unions claimed that it was the government’s new “conspiracy” to harass the employees.
