State has ‘failed’ disabled

Kathmandu, April 18:

Speakers at a programme today called on organisations working for the disabled people and victims of insurgency to get united. Unity between these organisations will empower the disabled and insurgency-hit, they said, accusing the government of failing to support them.

The programme was organised by the Conflict Victim and Disabled Society-Nepal. Pashupati Parajuli, principal, Khagendra Nava Jeevan Kendra, said, “The state has not been able to empower the disabled.”

JB Banjada, programme coordinator, Technical Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany (GTZ), said, “All organisations concerned should cooperate with each other for the empowerment of the disabled.”

Wheelchairs donated by the Latter-Day Saint Charities-USA were handed over to seven disabled people.
