Khadka inspects progress on Melamchi project

Kathmandu, March 15

State Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Deepak Khadka made quick visit to the pipleline construction sites of Melamchi Drinking Water Project here today.

The state minister’s surprise inspection comes in the wake of complaints about delay in the pipeline installation work, which is overseen by Melamchi Drinking Water Project Implementation Directorate.

Visiting the sites at Kantipath, Lazimpat and Pani Pokhari,  Khadka instructed the concerned authorities to blacktop the dug up roads. He made the inspection from 10:am to 11:30 am.

Raman Constructions has been tasked with repairing and blacktopping the dug up road in Kantipath, while authorities are laying the pipeline in Pani Pokhari.

“The ministry wants to bring Melamchi water to Kathmandu before the onset of Dashain, so work quickly,” the state minister told project officials. His visit comes closely on the heels of concerns raised by many over increasing dust pollution in the Valley.
