Statute amendment stressed

Kathmandu, May 16:

Newly elected general secretary of the CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal and Nepali Congress acting president Sushil Koirala today stressed the need for amendment to a constitutional clause that requires a two-third majority to form or oust the government.

They reached this conclusion after a 30-minute meeting held in PM’s official residence.

A NC source said the duo agreed that the Maoists had to be ready to amend the constitution to ensure that the government could be formed and removed with a simple majority of the CA.
