Stay order challenged
Kathmandu, March 30:
The government today moved the SC requesting it to vacate the interim order it had issued on March 23 to the government not to implement the Procedure on Appointment in Constitutional Bodies and the Regulation on the Work, Rights and Duties of the Constitutional Council, 2009.
Submitting a petition, acting chief secretary Baburam Acharya sought the vacation of the stay order issued by a single bench of Justice Anup Raj Sharma. “The order was issued after a one-sided hearing,” the petition alleged. The Constitutional Council headed by PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ promulgated the Regulation on January 17 in order to regulate the business of the Constitutional Council.
