Stop foreign trips of govt staff: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday directed Chief Secretary Rajendra Kishor Chhetri to bar all government employees from embarking on foreign tours.

The PM’s directive comes at a time when government officials have embarked on study and observation tours to foreign countries, spending millions of rupees of the taxpayers’ money.

According to PM’s Press Coordinator Govinda Pariyar,  the PM told Chhetri to allow employees to participate only in those meetings and seminars in which the country has to represent or the ones that would benefit the country. The PM had invited Chhetri to his office after he was appointed as chief secretary.
