Student organisations demand withdrawal of fee hike

KATHMANDU:  Eight student organisations on Wednesday demanded that the fee hike by private schools be withdrawn.

They called on Minister for Education Dhaniram Poudel at his office in Singh Durbar and asked for to this effect.

In response, Minister Poudel said he was serious about the issue and assured them of taking initiatives to take out the move by private schools, said a delegation member Rashmi Acharya, an acting chairperson of the All Nepal National Free Students Union.

Other delegation members include Vice President of Nepal Students Union and Vice Chairman of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary Bijaya Nath Bhattarai.

The organisations claimed that private educational institutions have increased fees by up to 200 percent from this academic session, ranging from admission and monthly fees.
