Students, police clash in capital

KATHMANDU: Examinees of the intermediate level examination clashed with security personnel when they tried to intimidate an invigilator who took action against Pradeep Neupane, an examanee for misbehaving during the exam at Durbar High School, Rani Pokhari on Friday.

Binod Tripathy, another examinee from Balmiki Bidhyapith at Exhibition Road alleged that security personnel tried to intervene while the students were merely interrogating the teacher for taking action against their fellow students after the completion of the exam.

Vehicular movement in the Rani Pokhari area was also disrupted during the clash due to the scuffle between the students and police. A dozen of students sustained minor injuries while some eight students were arrested and taken to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbar Marg.

In another incident at least four students out of nine boycotted the exam of Ka Aaichik Ka Iitihas Puran alleging that some 60 marks questions were given out of the course at the same examination centre.

Chundamani Koirala, an examinee who attempted the exam said that out of 100, 60 marks questions were out of the course due to which some students refused to sit for the exam.
