Sudden storm kills two in Lalitpur

Lalitpur, May 10

Two persons died and two sustained injuries when a tree fell on a microbus in Lalitpur this evening.

The incident occurred when a tree fell on the microbus due to a fierce storm at around 5:30 pm near Gayatri Petrol Pump in Ekantakuna, according to the police. Driver Karna Bahadur Thapa (27) of Belbari-3 in Sindhuli and passenger Prakash Sapkota (32) of Tanahun died while undergoing treatment in Patan Hospital at around 6 pm. Sapkota was an employee of the Microbus Entrepreneurs’ Committee of Route Number 21 plying on Kalanki route.

Helper Maila Lama (28) of Shikhar Ambote in Kavre received injuries on his back and head while a passenger, Kishor Kumar Sah (18), of Sitamadhi in India sustained injury on his head and got his hand fractured. Both are undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital. Both are out of danger, the police said. The ill-fated vehicle, heading towards Ratnapark, was waiting for passengers when the incident occurred. There were only four

persons on board the microbus, the police added.
