Sushil offers relief to PM
KATHMANDU: Acting president of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala on Sunday said that there would not be any change in the UML-led government.
Koirala said that his party is giving its full support to the incumbent government.
Speaking to media persons at his residence in Maharajgunj, Koirala said, “NC’s support to the current government will continue, adding that his party is committed to promulgate the constitution on time and take the peace process to a logical end.”
He said that the main opposition Unified CPN- Maoist should join hands for the twin tasks of statute promulgation and peace process.
“If the UCPN-M desires, it is still possible to promulgate the constitution in the stipulated deadline by May 28,” Koirala said, adding that if the new constitution could not be drafted on time, the Maoists would be responsible for the same.
Koirala’s statement is significant at a time when some parliamentarians of CPN-UML have been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in the ongoing UML Parliamentary Party meeting that kicked off on Saturday.
