Tamrat meets NC(D) bigwig

Kathmandu, June 13:

The United Nations’ senior political affairs officer for Asia and the Pacific Division, Samuel Tamrat, today met the acting president of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), Gopal Man Shrestha, at the latter’s office in Maharajgunj, here. The two held discussions on the political and human rights situation in Nepal. The UNDP’s resident representative Matthew Kahane was also present during the meeting. Shrestha thanked the UN secretary-general Kofi Annan for extending his support to the demand for restoration of democracy and human rights in Nepal, a statement issued by the party said.
