Teachers stage ‘pen down’ strike

Kathmandu: Nepal University Teachers’ Association on Friday staged a “pen down” strike in all campuses and organised a gherao of campus chiefs in all the Tribhuvan University constituent colleges. NUTA was protesting the arrest of around 32 professionals. Police arrested them from a peaceful protest rally organised by NUTA against autocracy on February 3. The detainees have been handed a 90-day detention order.

Meanwhile, the eight student unions affiliated to various political parties held a condolence meeting in the Valley campuses to mourn the killing of a UML cadre in Dang.
