Teachers’ body announces stir

KATHMANDU: Nepal Educational Republic Forum today announced one-and-a-half month long protest programme to pressure the new government to implement the suggestions and programmes formulated by the previous government to address the educational and professional demands of the teachers and the school employees.

Organising a press conference, RB Bhandari, president of NERF, today said, “The previous government had prepared a report to ensure the rights of the teachers and the school employees. But the new government might abandon such reports to initiate its own programme. Therefore it is an urgency to launch protest that reminds the new government to give continuity to the proceedings of the past government.”

He said they would be organising a huge rally in Kathmandu on May 31 and Resource Centre-level interaction with teachers, students and parents to submit the conclusion to the respective District Education Offices on June 5.

They would be erecting black flags on the school premises while teachers and employees would be tying black band from June 7 to 11, followed by a district level meeting on June 12. They will teach the at chowks on June 13, teach without speaking on June 15 and without writing on June 24.
