Teej festival inaugurated

Kathmandu, August 24:

Deputy speaker Chitralekha Yadav today said that fairs and exhibitions related to women could help women explore their potential and make themselves self-reliant.

Inaugurating a three-day Dabur Vatika Teej Festival 2007 today, she said that the overall development of the country would be determined by the level of priority the country accords to the socio-economic well-being of women.

A press release issued today by Women’s Creation Center (WCC) said that the fair was organised to provide a platform for semi-skilled women to share and showcase their experience and creations.

“WCC is going to contribute 15 per cent of the total earning from the exhibition for the purpose of uplifting the status of under-privileged women,” it added.

Various products like handicraft, garment, gift item, jewelry, Teej souvenir are on exhibition in more than 100 stalls.

Leading financial institutions and cooperatives have also participated in the exhibition, being held at Direction Exhibition and Convention Center at the United World Trade Center, Tripureshwor.
