Temperature continues to dip, reaches 0.9°C

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) says temperature in Kathmandu dipped again reaching the month's lowest at 0.9°C on Wednesday.

According to the records of MFD, the mercury continues to dip reaching this year's lowest minimum temperature at 3:00 am this morning.

The MFD assumes the average temperature for the day to be 15°C-17°C with 98% relative humidity. Today's sunrise was recorded at 6:51 am and sunset will be at 5:14 pm.

Yesterday, the MFD had recorded the minimum temperature of Kathmandu at 1.5°C.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the country today is of -8.4°C at Jumla.

Earlier on December 18 and 19 mornings, temperatures had plummeted to 2°C in Kathmandu.

The MFD records show that the average minimum and maximum temperatures for the month of December are 3.7°C and 20.2°C respectively. The highest maximum temperature for the month of December this year was recorded at 22.3°C on December 5.

The lowest minimum temperature that MFD recorded was on December 31, 1977 with mercury plummeting to -2°C.
