Three arrested with tusk
KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police on Wednesday arrested three persons with an elephant tusk from Siddhi Park of Lalitpur.
The suspects are Bir Bahadur Basnet, 32, Subash Thapa 31, and Rabindra Bahadur Khadka, 36, of Katari, Udayapur district. SP Jeevan Shrestha, CIB spokesperson, said the trio were held while trying to trade in the body part of the endangered wild animal.
CIB has launched an investigation to establish if the tusk belonged to an elephant found dead in a community forest of Belaka Municipality, Udayapur, on September 22 last year. The elephant carcass was found with its tail and tusk removed.
