KATHMANDU: A police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MCPD) nabbed three persons on charge of theft on Tuesday.

The suspects have been identified as Suman Dahal (30) and Poonam Dahal (33) of Changunarayan-5, Bhaktapur along with Devi Karki (32) of Jhule-8, Dolakha.

Among the suspects, Poonam is an employee of the General Post Office (GPO), Sundhara.

A victim complained that a cheque of total Rs 500,000 sent by his son, from Finland, was stolen on September 10, 2015.

He  is a permanent resident of Pakhapani-3, Myagdi and currently residing at Kathmandu-11.

The trio forged his signature and cashed the cheque from the Suryabinayak-based Everest Bank, police said.

MCPD informed that they arrested Karki from Pepsicola and two others from Baneshwor.

Police said that they have seized cash worth Rs 100,000 from Dahal.

Action  will be taken action the trio as per the Banking Offence and Punishment Act, 2008 and Postal Act, 2019.
