KATHMANDU: Three members of a single family died and another sustained critical injuries when a fire that broke out at a house in Koteshwor of the Capital on Friday night.

According to the Metropolitan Police Range, Baneshwor, the deceased have been identified as Lekhraj Shrestha (32) of Lakhanpur VDC-8 in Ramechhap district, his wife Deuki (28) and eight-year-old daughter Jenisha Shrestha.

Critically injured one-year-old Yunish Shrestha is receiving treatment at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).

It has been learned that Lekhraj died at a hospital while his wife and daughter breathed their last while receiving treatment at the Kirtipur-based Model Hospital.

The fire broke out from a candle light when Lekhraj, a taxi driver, was pouring the petrol in another vessel.

The entire goods of the room were destroyed while the house is also damaged, police said.
