Three Peru nationals detained for theft from TIA

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday detained three Peruvians from the  Tribhuvan International Airport for their alleged involvement in a theft case.

An Indian national Sunanda Ankita had lost Indian Rs 200,000 from her luggage at the nation's only international airport.

After Ankita reported the case to police, the security personnel had launched an investigation on Saturday.

During the probe, police found that the CCTV cameras had recorded the three foreigners stealing the cash from the luggage of Ankita.

Those reportedly involved in the theft have been identified as Javier Francihpo Parabes Seminario (passport number L00130341),  Alipio Origpena (passport number L00359647) and  Luis Alberto Escobear Bega, who did not possess the passport.

The alleged thieves were sent to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gausala on Sunday morning for further investigation.

Two scooters - Ba 65 Pa 2056 and Ba 68 Pa 7752 - used by the Peruvians have also been impounded, said police.
