Traffic awareness campaign starts

Kathmandu, December 16:

A month-long traffic awareness campaign began from today.

Some 500 traffic police, 60 students, 40 volunteers of local clubs and transport entrepreneurs were mobilised in 11 major traffic intersections of the capital. All the volunteers worked all day in Kalanki, Kalimati, Maharajgunj, Jamal, Koteshwor, Thapathali, and Babarmahal to maintain smooth traffic flow.

SSP Bhisma Prasai, chief at traffic division, said their programme was partly interrupted by rallies during the day. “But we are really encouraged by the positive response we received on the first day,” he said.
