Traffic police trying to win hearts and minds: IGP

Kathmandu, November 30:

Inspector General of Police Om Bikram Rana said today that the traffic police were still grappling with people’s prejudices.

“We have been making every effort to win over the minds of the people and convey them the message that we are their close aide,” he said, adding, “We are always ready to

go hand in hand with the public in every move we make.”

Rana was speaking at a programme held by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) to acknowledge the contribution made by various individuals in expanding infrastructure of the MTPD.

Bhisma Prasai, chief of the MTPD, said the increasing number of vehicles, old vehicles, frequent chakkajam and rallies, narrow roads were hindering efforts aimed at managing traffic.

In a briefing to media persons, he said the valley traffic management could be managed properly only after an improvement in infrastructure.
