Traffic rules violation on rise

KATHMANDU: The data of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division recorded during its special traffic campaign suggests that the violation of traffic rules has increased with the increasing number of vehicles.The records show increasing disregard for traffic rules.


A joint team of traffic police had seized 1,714 licences, 1,246 blue books and 630 route permits from traffic violators in the last two days.Twenty-one motorcycles were found parking at “No Parking Zone”, 149 vehicles were found violating lane regulations and five persons were charged for driving under the influence of liquor. As many as 51 taxis were caught with tampered meters. At least 97 public vehicles were found over-loaded and 41 vehicles had boarded their passengers on the roof-tops. While 590 public transport vehicles were found with their doors open and passengers hanging on them.
