Training on chemical convention begins

Kathmandu, February 15:
A two-day training on implementation of provisions of the Convention on Prohibition of Development, Production, Sto-ckpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and Their Destruction (CWC) began here today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Technical Secretariat of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the Hague, are jointly organising the course for agencies and officials at the National Authority of Nepal.
“The course intends to familiarise the agencies represented at the National Authority with various aspects of the Convention, including facilitating the implementation of the Convention in Nepal,” said a Foreign Ministry press statement. Nepal is a signatory of the Chemical Weapons Convention that came into force on 29 April, 1997.
