Training on rain-harvesting

Kathmandu, August 26:

A day-long training on rainwater harvesting was organised in Bhaktapur today.

The programme was organised to make the engineering students familiar with the prevailing technologies of preserving rainwater to overcome water scarcity in the Kathmandu Valley.

A total of 150 engineering students from several colleges in the valley participated in the training organised jointly by Guthi, Non Government Organisation Forum, and Khwopa Civil Engineering Students’ Society.

Speaking at the programme, president of Khwopa Civil Engineering Students’ Society Ashok Singh Basnet said he would urge the college management to adopt rainwater-harvesting mechanism in Khwopa College, which has been facing water shortage.

Speaking on behalf of engineering students, he assured that they would promote rainwater-harvesting while executing projects after they begin a career.

Sagun Bajracharya from Guthi said rainwater harvesting was the only option for Kathmandu denizens to overcome water shortage.

He also informed the students about the harvesting technology and its benefits.
