TU reopens after five days

KATHMANDU: The agitating Tribhuvan University Employees’ Association (TUEA) Wednesday opened the door of Tribhuvan University office, five days after it was padlocked.

Basu Prasad Devkota, general secretary, TUEA, said today that they decided to lift the lock out as per the suggestions of other employees’ organisations, including Progressive Employees’ Organisation and National Employees’ Organisation. The other organisations had suggested the TUEA to resolve the issue through talks.

The TUEA had padlocked the university five days ago, protesting the varsity’s decision to cut off accumulative leave facility by 30 days, among others.

“Though we lifted the padlock, our protest against the TU is still on,” Devkota said.
