KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in defrauding various people via the social networking site of Facebook.

A team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police today arrested Anil Nath Boki Shrestha, a permanent resident of Sundhara in Lalitpur, and Anita Maharjan, a permanent resident of Banasthali of Kathmandu.

Shrestha was arrested from Thamel whereas Maharjan from Banasthali.

The duo are accused of making various unknown persons their Facebook friends, offering them various gifts and asking some money to send those gifts to them.

A police investigation had found that the duo had forced some person to deposit various amounts in their bank accounts.

Police are looking into the case.
