Two held for cheating youth with promise of jobs in Macau

Kathmandu, February 18

Police have arrested two persons on the charge of cheating unemployed youths with the promise of lucrative jobs in Macau.

A special team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur held Khem Bahadur Kami aka Uttam Tamrakar (27) of Syangja, currently residing in Sunakothi, Lalitpur and Udesh Khadgi (29) of Bag Bazaar, Kathmandu from separate places in the capital yesterday.

The duo used to produce fake identity cards of Maoist combatants disqualified by the UNMIN and take the victims into confidence, saying that Macau gives priority to such persons as security guards.

Police said they had swindled Rs 1.6 million from more than six persons.

Officials have seized four fake ID cards of disqualified Maoist combatants, passports of various persons, documents and Rs 53,5000 from them.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Range has arrested Akash Lama (24) of Rautahat, Kiran Siwakoti (22) of Morang and Govinda Lama (21) of Kavre with a khukiri for their alleged involvement in hooliganism and disturbing peace in the society.

They were nabbed from Kanibahal, Lalitpur, yesterday.
