Two men arrested for swindling duo with NOC job promise
KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) on Sunday said that two men were arrested over the charge of swindling two persons of Rs 256,000.
Identified as Deepak Thakur, a permanent resident at Rajbiraj-6 in Saptari, Thakur is accused of swindling Suraj Adhikari and his sister Srijana Adhikari, promising Srijana a job at the Thankot depot of the Nepal Oil Corporation.
The MPCD said that Thakur, a friend of Suraj cajoled him into believing that he had acquired a job at the Nepal Oil Corporation without filing formal procedures. Thakur then demanded Rs 500,000 from Adhikari duo to secure that job for Srijana.
The Adhikari siblings then deposited Rs. 256,000 into the account of Dipendra Shah Kanu, Thakur’s aide, in various instalments.
But later, Srijana found out that the appointment letter given to her was fake.
She then had resorted to the MPCD to look into the issue.
The MPCD had deployed a special police team to coordinate with the Area Police Office in Chandranigahapur of Rautahat district to investigate into the case, which nabbed the accused duo from the same location.
The MPCD said the suspect has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation, on Saturday.
