UAE Ambassador calls on PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nepal Saeed Hamdan Mohammad Al Naqbi called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Singh Durbar in Kathmandu on Thursday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al Naqei invited Prime Minister Dahal to UAE to attend the World Future Energy Summit to be held on January 16, 2017, according to a statement issued by the PM’s Secretariat.

Assuring that Nepal could take a great benefit from the Summit, Ambassador Al Naqei also made it clear that the UAE has invited Nepal for the first time to the Summit.

In response, PM Dahal expressed his interest to attend the programme.

On the occasion, the duo also discussed bilateral relationships and mutual interests between Nepal and the UAE.

PM Dahal requested Ambassador Al Naqei to provide blanket amnesty to Amar Bam of Darchula district who was slapped death penalty by a court in the UAE some 11 years ago.

Bam was accused of murdering an Indian national, Sharad Shetty, in 2003 and has been languishing in the Al Abira Central Jail in Dubai.

Mentioning that the two countries had friendly relations since long, Ambassador Al Naqei said that he would discuss the issue after he reached the UAE.
