UML General Secy smells rat over presidential election

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has said that those which did not want promulgation of the new Constitution have made attempts to affect the election to the post of President to prevent the implementation of Constitution.

At a greetings exchange programme organised on the occasion of the Dashain festival here today, General Secretary Pokharel blamed that some groups have been making attempts to elect the person, who did not accept the new Constitution, to the post of president not to allow successful implementation of the new charter.

General Secretary Pokharel said that they have been making initiatives through the party and the government for the successful implementation of new Constitution, to bring the agitating sides into consensus through talks and reconstruction of the country hit by the April 25 earthquake.

Party Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai and central committee member Surya Thapa had also spoken at the function.
