UML Madhesi youths end sit-in

Kathmandu, May 15:

Madhesi youths and students affiliated to the CPN-UML today ended the indefinite sit-in they had been staging at the party headquarters for the last four days.

The Madhesi Youth Students Suggestion and Struggle Committee had organised the sit-in to press the party’s central committee meeting, which concluded today, to address the issues of the Madhes so as to regain the party’s image and strength in the Tarai.

Issuing a press statement, convener of the committee Shree Prasad Shaha and secretary Dinesh Kumar Yadav said they ended the sit-in following assurances from the party leadership to meet their demands.

The release said UML leaders have expressed commitment to seriously address the demands raised by the committee.
