UML tries to woo small parties for Oli as PM

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of CPN-UML are  holding a joint meeting with the leaders of small parties, except the ones from Madhes, in the Parliament to seek support for party's candidate, KP Sharma Oli, from them in the prime ministerial elections.

Oli has already announced his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister.

The meeting is underway at Oli's residence in Balkot of Bhaktapur.

Oli, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala  Nath Khanal, Vice-Chairperson Bidya Bhandari and party's Chief Whip Agni Kharel are taking part in the meeting.

As the seven-day deadline given by the President to choose  consensual Prime Minister ended yesterday, the process to elect the country's executive head through majority in Parliament would start from today.

The prime ministerial elections are likely to be held on October 11.
