UN day observed

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala today said that Nepal needed continual support of the United Nations in various sectors.

Addressing a function organised to mark the UN day, DPM Koirala said that Nepal was ready to increase its troops in international peacekeeping missions. She, thereby also lauded the UNMIN’S support to the peace process.

Government officials, diplomats, leaders of political parties, civil society members, donor agencies, military officials and the press had participated in the function at the UN House in Pulchowk. UN staff members, who served the UN for over 25 years were honoured during the program.

Meanwhile, a video message from the Secretary General Ban Ki Moon was screened during the program. Likewise, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Robert Piper shed light on various activities activities of UN agencies in Nepal.
