Lalitpur, September 24:

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) representative to Nepal, Kato Kanno, on the 10th anniversary of the Patan Tourism Development Organisation

(PTDO) and to mark the World Tourism Day on September 27, inaugurated a new website on tourism, www.patantour.com, today. The inauguration ceremony was followed by a three-hour inner city tour of Patan via the newly constructed alternative tourist route. Dilendra Raj Shrestha, the tour guide and the founder president of PTDO said, “The alternative route presents a unique picture of Patan, one that was often overlooked when travelling by the old, direct route.”

Shrestha said the new route allowed closer views of inner lanes, private courtyards, shrines and monuments in the Patan area. The tourists could also observe the local lifestyle while travelling by the new route, he said. PTDO also organised an on-spot drawing competition with the theme ‘Our Heritage Our Pride’ at Patan Durbar Square today.
