US team to assess latest developments here
Kathmandu, August 24 :
A four-member delegation of the US Congress will arrive in Kathmandu tomorrow to begin a four-day visit to Nepal, the American Centre said here today.
The delegation is led by Congressman Jim Kolbe from the Arizona state and the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Export Financing and Related Programmes. “The Congressmen will review developments in Nepal and issues affecting their legislative work,” stated a press release issued by the Centre.
Kolbe’s subcommittee funds most US foreign aid programmes, including the US Agency for International Development and the US Global HIV/AIDS Initiative. It also funds the State Department’s international narcotics interdiction efforts, counter-terrorism activities, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The US Embassy yesterday announced $114,808 grant assistance to restore two cultural
heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley.
