KATHMANDU: The bandh called by the Youth Communist League (YCL) has affected the lives of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Streets are deserted, markets, industries, schools and colleges are closed.
YCL, the Youth wing of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal–Maoists(UCPN-M) called the valley bandh on Monday to protest the death of its in-charge from Area 7 in Kathmandu and UCPN-M’s Kathmandu district member, Rajendra Phuyal.
Maoist's cadres obstructed vehicular movement – even the press and other emergency services in some places in the Kathmandu Valley. Due to the sudden bandh, students bound for schools and colleges were forced to return home after they got the information in the morning.
Earlier on Thrusday, Phuyal was found unconscious at Bhangeritar of Dharmasthali VDC-7 and he died while undergoing treatment at TU Teaching Hospital. YCL is blaming UML affiliated Youth Force responsible for the death.
