Valley security tightened

Kathmandu, September 24:

Special security arrangement has been made in the Valley to avert crimes before and during Dashain, said Keshab Adhikari, Superintendent of Police at the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka.

“We have deployed more police personnel in more locations in the Valley as a part of our move to keep crimes at bay, especially during a festival like Dashain,” Adhikari said. According to him, police personnel have been deployed in civil dresses as well as in uniform round the clock.

Taking into consideration the previous trend of high crime rate during Dashain, the Valley Police Office, the VCIB and the Kathmandu District Police Office (KDPO) are jointly arranging security management, the police official said.

Dhak Bahadur Karki, Superintendent of Police at the KDPO, said all the police stations in the Kathmandu have been directed to intensify all kinds of patrolling — on foot, surprise and van patrolling so that criminals will have very little chance to commit any crime.

The police officials also said that the Valley Police Office have asked the Police Headquarters to assign some more personnel on duty inside Valley during the festival.

Police personnel from Special Task Force at Police Headquarters have been deployed at crime prone areas like Thamel, Durbarmarg and New road during night.
