Verdict in NRB guv case on Nov 25

Kathmandu, September 30:

The Special Court today set November 25 as the date for verdict on the corruption case against Bijaya Nath Bhattarai, the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank and its Executive Director Surendra Man Pradhan.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed the case against the top NRB officials on June 29. A three-member bench comprising judges Bhoopdhoj Adhikary, Komal Nath Sharma and Cholendra SJB Rana set the date after the hearing today.

The bench also told both prosecuting and defendant lawyers to submit their written arguments by October 6 so that the bench could decide the case on November 25. During today’s hearing, government prosecutor Diwakar Bhatta and counsels of NRB top officials Bharat Raj Uprety, Purna Man Shakya, Dr Rajit Bhakta Pradhananga, Krishna Prasad Sapkota and Shiva Rijal pleaded.
