Visually impaired announce fresh protests
Kathmandu, March 13:
The Unemployed Bilnd’s Group (UBG) today announced the second round of protest programmes, saying the government had ignored its demands.
The UBG had taken to the streets, demanding jobs be provided to at least 500 blind people, unemployment allowance of Re 2,000 be provided to every blind person and skill-oriented training be provided to the blind.
The blind will organise a host of programmes on different dates, including protest meeting at Maitighar at 1 pm and a protest rally from Maitighar to Singhadurbar after the completion of the meeting on Wednesday. The UBG will submit a memorandum to secretary general of the United Nations Kofi Annan through the NHRC on Thursday.
It will gherao the Ministry of Education and Sports on Sunday, said UBG coordinator Krishna Prasad Dhakal.
