Vitamin A campaign begins in KMC

KATHMANDU: Almost 35,000 children have been administered Vitamin A capsules and deworming tablets in all 35 wards of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Monday.

On the first day of the National Vitamin A Programme (NVAP), Vitamin A capsules, deworming tablets and anti-parasitic medicines were administered to about 35,000 children from all wards of Kathmandu today.

Hari Kumar Shrestha, Chief of KMC Public Health Department, said that the programme was targeted to about 120,000 kids from age of six months to five years.

"As many as 638 people including volunteers and community health workers in 280 vaccination centres have been deployed to administer the tablets," said Shrestha.
