Woman held for fraud

KATHMANDU: A special team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division nabbed an alleged fraudster.

Indira Rimal, a resident of Khadga Bhanjyang of Nuwakot, currently residing in Baluwatar, was caught by the team on Saturday.

According to a report filed by Ram Laxmi Twayana (40), a resident of Bhaktapur-14, two persons had swindled her with alluring proposals.

Twayana is an herbal entrepreneur by profession.

Nirmal Karki, a permanent resident of Chisapani of Khotang, currently residing in KMC-4 apparently introduced Twayana to Ganesh Kumar Pandit, a resident of Shankarapur-8, KMC. Both Karki and Pandit then introduced her to Indira Rimal, who they said ran a bigger herbal enterprise.

Stating that they would upgrade the standard of her industry, Karki and Pandit had managed to swindle a total of Rs 60 million from Twayana by selling off her land.

Twayana realised that she was swindled as soon as she went to cash the cheque and reported to the police.

Police had previously arrested Pandit on June 1 this year in connection to the case. He, however, was released on bail later.

Rimal, on the other hand, was absconding since Pandit’s arrest.
