Woman robs biker on pretext of taking lift

Giving a lift to stranger may land you in serious trouble. A woman allegedly looted a 22-year-old man on the pretext of taking lift last night.
According to a complaint lodged with police, Ram Prasad Tiwari of Fujel, Gorkha was returning to his rented room in Raniban from Thamel when a woman standing by the roadside flagged him down at Mhepi.
As he stopped his bike to offer lift to the woman thinking she might be in distress as there were no public vehicle running at such time, she rendered him unconscious by forcing him into sniffing a sedative.
The woman, who Tiwari said was wearing mask at that time, made off with Rs 10,000, IRs 35,000 and USD 1,288. Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident and appealed to all not to give lift to pedestrians.
“Some persons asking for lift may turn out to be a cheat,” warned an official.
Separately, property worth around Rs 293,000 was stolen from a rented room in Bishalnagar yesterday.
Quoting the complainant, police said a gang of unidentified thieves broke into the room of Arjun Sharma Rijal and decamped with 160,000 in cash and various gold and silver ornaments.
