Women footballers for SAFF Championship selected
KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has selected 42 women footballers in the preliminary phase to represent Nepal in the 4th women's South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) championship to be held in India.
Of the 42 footballers 30 will be selected for a closed camp training. The current selection was made from a pool of 72 players by a team including Chief trainer Kumar Lama, technical analyst Chiyaki Takeda, ANFA trainer Sunil Shrestha, Mrigendra Mishra and Asmita Khawas, according to a press statement issued by ANFA here Tuesday.
The tournament is being held from December 26 and Nepal is grouped together with Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan. Nepal had finished runners-up in the 3rd SAFF Championship held in Pakistan.
Cricketers selected for U-19 Asia Cup
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected 52 cricketers in the preliminary phase to be included in the national team of Nepal playing in the U-19 Asia Cup Cricket tournament in Sri Lanka.
The cricketers were selected through a talent hunt organised by CAN in 6 locations across the country. The 52 will undergo further screening to be elected for the final team representing Nepal in the tournament to be held in coming December, according to CAN.
